fomo.family review: memecoin social trading, seen by a bitcoin miner
Last updated 13.09.2026
First, the obvious part. fomo.family has nothing to do with mining. It runs no pools, sells no ASICs and doesn't touch hashrate, and neither the company's own material nor any independent review mentions mining at all. It is a mobile and web app for trading tokens that already exist, mostly memecoins and altcoins. Bitcoin shows up only as one tradable asset next to ETH and SOL.
So why review it on pool-btc.com? Readers keep asking what to do with part of what they mine, and which of the apps their friends post about are worth a look. pool-btc.com is an independent comparison site. We don't manage anyone's money and we don't give investment advice. What follows comes from fomo's official documents and from press coverage, with each source labeled.
Miners who might find it interesting:
- people who deliberately set aside a small slice of mined coins for speculation and can accept losing all of it;
- people already trading on Solana or Base who are curious how a public, social trade feed works.
Miners it clearly doesn't suit:
- long-term BTC holders keeping coins on a hardware wallet (see our wallet guide);
- anyone whose mining income pays the bills or services an equipment loan;
- residents of the countries on the service's restricted list (covered below).
What is fomo.family and how does it work?
fomo.family is a "social" crypto trading app from FOMO Labs, Inc., a US company. You fund it with Apple Pay, a bank account or USDC, then buy memecoins and other tokens across several chains without seed phrases, bridges or paying gas by hand. Alongside that sits a feed of other users' trades, leaderboards and public PnL.
The company calls it "a trading app for the rest of us". According to the summary of its terms on onchaincircus.com (21.08.2026), the Terms of Service state that fomo is not an exchange, a broker or a DEX.
How it works, per official material:
- Sign up on iOS, Android or the web app.
- Deposit fiat or USDC.
- Buy and sell tokens. On Solana, Base, BNB Chain and Monad fomo sponsors gas; on Ethereum it doesn't (datawallet.com).
- Follow traders. You get notified when they trade, but nothing is copied automatically. Whether to repeat a trade is your call (datawallet.com, onchaincircus.com).
- Since June 2026 perpetual futures run on Hyperliquid infrastructure (fomo blog, 22.06.2026). Perps are not available to US persons.
Trades route through DFlow for MEV and front-running protection, and cross-chain transfers go through Relay (datawallet.com). ourcryptotalk.com (13.08.2026) described the product as "TikTok for trading", which fits the feed.

Caplight, a third-party funding data aggregator, also lists Dragonfly Capital, Archetype, Hack VC and Pantera Capital among early investors. The company's own posts don't mention them, so treat that as the aggregator's version.
Only figures with a clear source belong in the chart:
| Metric | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Users at Series A | over 120,000 | techcrunch.com, November 2025 |
| Users and volume at Series B | over 600,000 users, over $4B trading volume | Official: press release, 22.06.2026 |
| Peak weekly revenue | $2.64M (week to 8 August 2026) | DefiLlama via onchaincircus.com, unofficial |
| Daily revenue | roughly $150,000 to $400,000 | Same |
| App Store rating | 4.8 | Store listing |
| Google Play rating | 4.7 | Store listing |
The store listings say "trusted by 1,000,000+ users", but no separate official publication backs that number. Onchain Circus also points out that the headline about fomo beating Hyperliquid on daily revenue in mid-August was a one-day anomaly and says little about scale.
How much does trading on fomo.family cost?
There is no single confirmed rate, because two official fomo documents disagree. The Terms of Service say the fee depends on the trade and is shown before you confirm, with perps at 0.05%. The Help Center, as summarized by fomoappguide.com, gives a per-chain table with a 0.50% base rate. The Terms are the legally binding document.
We don't average them. Here are both.
Version 1: Terms of Service (fomo.family/terms, dated 17.08.2026). The fee depends on transaction size and type, the token and the route. The exact rate appears in the app before confirmation and can change at any time at the company's discretion. Perps are listed at 0.05% per transaction plus third-party protocol fees. According to a quote in fomoappguide.com's breakdown (09.08.2026), the Terms also contain the wording "minimum fee of 0.50% per transaction (subject to a minimum fee of $0.95 per transaction)", with no per-chain detail.
Version 2: Help Center (help.fomo.family), as summarized by fomoappguide.com (09.08.2026).
| Case | Fee |
|---|---|
| Base, BNB Chain, Monad | 0.50% |
| Ethereum | 0.50% + network gas |
| Solana, order of 200 USDC or more | 0.50% |
| Solana, order under 200 USDC | $0.95 flat minimum |
| Selected major tokens | 0.05% |
| With a referral code | 0.45% (permanent 10% discount) |
The disagreement is about where the $0.95 minimum applies. The Help Center limits it to small Solana orders; the Terms read as if it applies to every transaction. fomoappguide.com says outright that the two documents don't match.
Other points from independent reviews:
- On perps fomo charges a 0.05% builder fee on open and on close, and Hyperliquid adds about 0.045% on taker orders. That comes to roughly 0.095% per side, close to double the cost of trading on Hyperliquid directly (datawallet.com; onchaincircus.com, 21.08.2026).
- The first purchase of a given token carries a one-time "token rent" charge (onchaincircus.com). The service does not publish the amount.
- Bank withdrawals take up to 3 business days (official, fomo.family/answers). The material we found shows no separate bank withdrawal fee, and the service does not publish the fee for crypto withdrawals.
- datawallet.com calls this a "transparency gap": fomo's marketing pages never state a specific rate.
Miners will recognize the trap. A small pool payout, say $50, traded on Solana falls under the $0.95 minimum, which is nearly 2% of the amount. We've run the same math for pool payouts in our useful tools.
Security: audits and a disputed incident
Audits. fomo's CertiK Skynet page (skynet.certik.com/projects/fomo) showed "Audits Not Available" when checked. We found no third-party code or protocol audit published by fomo.family itself.
The company's security model (fomo blog, 04.03.2026; fomo.family/answers/is-fomo-app-safe, 08.02.2026):
- self-custodial wallet, provider Privy;
- the private key is split with Shamir's Secret Sharing, and no single party, fomo included, can rebuild it alone;
- the key is assembled only inside a trusted execution environment (TEE) at signing time;
- login, withdrawals and key export require FaceID;
- in the company's words: "FOMO cannot access, move, or freeze your funds".
The August 2026 incident. On 23 and 24 August a trader posting as Derivatives_Ape claimed on X that an iOS app update from FOMO had caused $6M in losses, citing one user who lost 662 SOL (about $62,000). The on-chain transaction itself is real and was checked on Solscan.
FOMO co-founder Prashan Dharmasena publicly denied the claim. He said the wallet in question never signed a transaction through FOMO's fee payer and was not created through FOMO at all. Some accounts in the community backed the theory that competitors were trying to damage fomo's reputation.
As of 24.08.2026 the app was still in the App Store. The company had not acknowledged a hack or offered compensation, and no independent technical analysis had reached a conclusion. Sources: Protos and DigitalMoneyBox, both 24.08.2026. We are not drawing conclusions about who is right. For how other services handled confirmed breaches, see our review of wallets after hacks.
Clones. A phishing domain, fomoo.family with a double "o", copied the real site, and its "Connect wallet" button launched a crypto drainer. By 30.07.2026 it was offline (brokerlistings.com). The real address is fomo.family.
Technical scanners. PCrisk (scan of 22.08.2026) scored the domain 97/100 and GridinSoft (06.08.2026) 95/100: not blacklisted, valid TLS. Both say plainly that they check for malware, not for honest business practices.
Risks
> Read this before you sign up.
>
> - Memecoins can go to zero. fomo's main asset class is memecoins and volatile tokens, and you can lose everything you put in. Independent reviews also report trouble selling positions when liquidity is thin.
> - It isn't regulated as a broker or exchange. fomo's own terms say it is not an exchange, broker or DEX, so there is no investor protection of the kind a licensed broker carries (datawallet.com, coincodex.com, brokerlistings.com).
> - You hold the keys. Self-custody means that if you lose access or make a mistake, support cannot return the funds.
> - There is no public audit, and the $6M August incident has been neither confirmed nor ruled out independently.
> - Leaderboards aren't advice. Someone's past public PnL guarantees nothing. Onchain Circus calls the social feed a commercial tool.
>
> pool-btc.com does not give investment advice or promise returns. This article is for information only.
On geography: the Terms (17.08.2026) list prohibited jurisdictions: Crimea, Cuba, Donetsk, DR Congo, Iran, Libya, Luhansk, Myanmar, North Korea, Sudan, Venezuela, Yemen, plus any country or person under US, UK or EU sanctions. Using a VPN to get around this is explicitly banned. fomo does not publish a full list of countries where the service works.
Press opinion is split too. CoinCodex (15.08.2026) says the service "looks legit": public founders, no signs of outright fraud. Brokerlistings.com (30.07.2026) advises against depositing, citing complaints about selling and withdrawals, but that site promotes a different platform through affiliate links, so it may have a conflict of interest. Datawallet rates fomo 4.5 out of 5 and also uses affiliate links.
How does the fomo.family referral program work?
fomo runs two programs. In the user program, according to summaries of the official terms, the invited user gets a 10% fee discount (0.45% instead of 0.50%) and the referrer earns 25% of that user's trading fees. The second, an affiliate program, is aimed at creators, and the service does not publish its rate.
User program. Section 8 of the Terms of Service says details are published on the site, can change without notice, and payouts are at the company's discretion. Self-referral and gaming are prohibited, and the company can cancel rewards. The Terms themselves give no percentage. The 10% and 25% figures match across several third-party summaries (medium.com/coinmonks, 16.08.2026; usethebitcoin.com, 20.07.2026; modecryptoclub.com, 21.07.2026). On Base, BNB Chain and Monad the referrer's share starts with the first trade; on Solana, from the second. The code can be entered only once, at signup.
Affiliate program (fomo.family/affiliates): you apply and get reviewed, with no follower minimum. Approved affiliates get a unique link, a dashboard, a commission on every trade by referred users and real-time payouts. The company says it has paid out more than $1.1M in referral commissions.
Disclosure. pool-btc.com has an affiliate link with fomo. If you sign up through it, the site may receive a share of fees from your trades, and under the program terms you get a fee discount. That doesn't change this review: the risks and open questions above are stated in full.

What to check before putting money into fomo.family
- The URL. It's fomo.family, not fomoo.family or any lookalike. Install the app only from the App Store or Google Play.
- Your country. Check the prohibited jurisdictions in fomo.family/terms. The terms ban VPN use.
- The fee on the confirmation screen. Look at the rate before every trade, especially on Solana orders under 200 USDC where the $0.95 minimum can apply.
- Key export. Right after the wallet is created, find out how to export the key and store it offline.
- An amount you can lose. Put in only the share of mined coins you could lose entirely. To see what your hardware actually earns, use the mining calculator.
- A test withdrawal. Deposit a small amount and withdraw it again. Bank withdrawals take up to 3 business days.
- The incident status. See whether an independent analysis of the $6M claim or an official audit has appeared since 24.08.2026.
- Trader follows. They are notifications, not auto-copying, and past leaderboard PnL promises nothing.
