ViaBTC vs Trustpool: fee and payout comparison

Last updated: 2026-09-29

ViaBTC charges a 4% fee on its default PPS+ scheme. Trustpool charges 1% on PPS+. Both pools set the same 0.001 BTC minimum payout and support several coins beyond Bitcoin. The gap in fees is real, but the two pools differ in other ways that matter depending on your setup and priorities.

POOL BTC is an independent comparison site and does not operate a mining pool. To estimate earnings at either pool, try the mining calculator.

How do ViaBTC and Trustpool fees compare?

ViaBTC's default BTC fee is 4% on PPS+. Switching to PPLNS drops that to 2%, but you take on variance risk. Trustpool charges 1% on PPS+, which is 3 percentage points lower than ViaBTC's PPS+ rate and still a fixed-rate scheme. All fees verified against official pool pages as of 2026-08-18; always confirm at the pool before routing hashrate.

On a 100 TH/s rig, a 3% fee difference adds up over months. But fee is not the only variable. Uptime, luck and how each pool handles transaction fees all affect what actually lands in your wallet.

What payout schemes does each pool offer?

ViaBTC gives you two options for Bitcoin: PPS+ and PPLNS. PPS+ pays a fixed amount per share (block subsidy on PPS basis, transaction fees on PPLNS basis). PPLNS pays from blocks the pool actually finds, so income fluctuates with luck. The lower 2% PPLNS fee compensates for that variance.

Trustpool runs PPS+ only. You get predictable income and a single fee to think about. There is no PPLNS option.

If steady daily payouts matter to you, both pools cover that through PPS+. If you want to bet on pool luck for potentially higher returns at a lower fee, only ViaBTC gives you that choice.

What is the minimum payout?

Both pools pay from 0.001 BTC. For a small farm running a single Antminer S21 (~200 TH/s), reaching that threshold takes roughly a few days at current difficulty. Neither pool forces you to wait weeks for a payout.

For reference, some other pools set the bar higher: F2Pool and AntPool require 0.005 BTC, and Foundry USA starts at 0.01 BTC.

Which coins can you mine?

Both pools support a mix of SHA-256 and other algorithms. The overlap is large but not complete.

Who should pick ViaBTC?

ViaBTC makes sense if you want the option to switch between PPS+ and PPLNS depending on market conditions, or if you mine ETC alongside BTC. The dashboard includes auto-conversion to BTC or USDT, which saves a step if you prefer to receive everything in one asset. The 4% PPS+ fee is on the higher end, but PPLNS at 2% brings it closer to Trustpool's rate if you can handle the income swings.

Who should pick Trustpool?

Trustpool is the simpler, cheaper option for miners who just want PPS+ at the lowest published fee among major pools. At 1%, it costs a quarter of what ViaBTC charges on the same scheme. If you also mine KAS, having both coins in one pool is convenient. The trade-off: no PPLNS fallback and a much smaller pool overall (not even in the top 16 by hashrate share), which means the community and tooling around it are less established.

FAQ

Is Trustpool's 1% fee really that much better than ViaBTC's 4%?

On the same payout scheme (PPS+), yes. Over a year, a miner running 500 TH/s would keep roughly 3% more of their gross earnings at Trustpool. The exact dollar amount depends on BTC price and network difficulty, but the percentage gap is straightforward.

Can I use PPLNS on Trustpool?

No. Trustpool only offers PPS+. If you want PPLNS, ViaBTC is one option at 2%.

Which pool is bigger?

ViaBTC holds about 9.02% of global Bitcoin hashrate (7-day average, mempool.space/mining, ~28.09.2026), making it one of the top-5 pools. Trustpool does not appear in mempool.space's top 16, which means its share is below roughly 0.3% (same source and date). The size gap is significant.

Do both pools support Stratum V2?

ViaBTC does not support Stratum V2 and is not part of the SV2 Working Group as of August 2026 (d-central.tech). Trustpool does not mention Stratum V2 support on its site (checked 28.09.2026).

Where can I compare profitability for my specific ASIC?

Use the POOL BTC mining calculator or check the ASIC rankings to see which machines are most efficient right now.

Are there any hidden fees?

The fees listed above come from each pool's official pricing page. Some pools charge withdrawal fees or adjust rates for specific coins. Always check the pool's terms before connecting.
