MEXC review 2026: fees, limits, countries, who it fits

MEXC fits miners and traders who want low spot fees (0% maker, 0.05% taker), cheap BTC withdrawals including Lightning, and access from Russia and Latin America. It fits poorly anyone who needs a licensed exchange: the Seychelles regulator says MEXC's operator has no licence there and cannot help recover funds.

POOL BTC is an independent comparison site, not MEXC and not a mining pool, and nothing here is investment advice. The figures come from MEXC's official pages and announcements, the Seychelles Financial Services Authority, and public fee trackers that read MEXC's API, all checked on 2026-10-07.

What is MEXC?

MEXC is a centralized crypto exchange founded in 2018. It offers spot trading, perpetual futures, P2P, Earn, DEX+, Launchpad and Launchpool, and a MEXC Card. The operator is MX Global Ltd, registered in Seychelles, and the CEO is Vugar Usi Zade. The native token is MX.

The site claims more than 40 million users in over 170 countries. Those are MEXC's own numbers, and we could not check them independently. The listing is wide: MEXC's seventh anniversary article from September 21, 2026 counts 2,905 spot pairs and 1,130 futures tokens.

Copy trading is not confirmed on the official pages we checked, so we leave it out.

What fees and limits does MEXC have?

Standard spot fees are 0.00% maker and 0.05% taker. Futures are 0.00% maker and 0.02% taker on standard pairs. Crypto deposits are free. A BTC withdrawal on the main network costs 0.00002 BTC, and Lightning costs 0.000001 BTC, per fee trackers reading MEXC's API in October 2026.

The MX discount is a mess. The current fee page wording is ambiguous and shows "0% discount". A MEXC article from September 21, 2026 says holders get 20% off. A November 2025 article said 50%. We cannot tell you which one applies today, so open the fee page before you count on it.

The withdrawal fees need a caveat as well. MEXC's own withdrawal page loads through JavaScript, so the numbers above come from trackers that read the exchange's API. A tracker article from March 2026 said Lightning was not supported, while October data shows it open. Fees are dynamic. Check the withdraw screen for the exact amount before you send. MEXC says a withdrawal TxID is generated within 1-60 minutes.

For a miner, the math is simple. Selling BTC as a taker on a standard pair costs 0.05% of the trade, half of the 0.1% standard rate at the three exchanges in our comparison below. Moving BTC out on Lightning costs a fraction of the on-chain fee, if the route is open when you withdraw.

Who is MEXC for, and who should avoid it?

MEXC suits people who cash out or buy BTC in amounts they can afford to have stuck for a while, care about low taker fees and cheap withdrawals, and live where it is allowed. It does not suit anyone who needs a regulated counterparty, keeps savings on the exchange, or lives in a prohibited country.

Good fits:

  • Miners who send pool payouts to the exchange, sell part for stablecoins and withdraw the rest quickly.
  • Buyers who want BTC on Lightning with a small withdrawal fee.
  • Traders who want a wide choice: 2,905 spot pairs by MEXC's own count.

Poor fits:

  • Anyone who wants a licence in a major jurisdiction behind the account. MEXC has none according to the sources we reviewed.
  • Anyone storing a large balance long term. The Seychelles regulator has said it cannot help with fund recovery.
  • Residents of the US, UK, Canada, mainland China and the other prohibited countries listed below.

If your main question is whether mining still pays at today's difficulty, run the numbers first in our mining calculator. The exchange matters only after that.

Which countries can use MEXC?

The User Agreement prohibits North Korea, Cuba, Sudan, Iran, mainland China, Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Canada and Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine. Mainland Russia is not on that list, and MEXC's app-supported countries page includes Russia. Argentina and the rest of Latin America are not prohibited either.

The Russian-controlled regions named in the terms are Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Sevastopol.

The versions of the terms do not match. The en-GB version also adds Malaysia and Kazakhstan, and the Earn agreement adds Syria. MEXC can update these lists at any time, so read the version shown to you at sign-up, not a summary.

For Russia and the CIS, MEXC runs region-specific fee campaigns, including the futures update that takes effect on October 8, 2026. The exception is the MEXC Card. It has its own list of 69 restricted countries, published on the card page on September 21, 2026, which includes Russia, Ukraine, the US, China, India, Turkey, Belarus and Venezuela. So the card is not available in Russia even though the exchange is.

For Argentina and other Latin American countries, the exchange is open under the terms we checked. Venezuela is on the card list, so check your own country against it before planning to spend from MEXC.

Is MEXC safe, and who holds the funds?

MEXC is custodial: the exchange holds your coins. It publishes monthly Proof of Reserves audited by Hacken with a Merkle tree, and the September 2026 snapshot showed BTC reserves at 297% of user holdings. The weak spot is regulation, not reserves: the operator has no licence in a major jurisdiction.

The September snapshot is dated September 10, 2026 and was published on September 15. It lists 12,202.13 BTC in reserves against 4,106.57 BTC held by users, USDT at 119%, USDC at 111% and ETH at 111%. The same release describes cold and hot wallet separation, multi-signature withdrawals, a $101 million Guardian Fund and a futures insurance fund of about 798 million USDT. All of those figures are self-reported.

Independent analyses we found report no exchange-wide hack. MEXC's own security report says it blocked 2.2 million USDT of illicit assets in May-June 2025. Two-factor authentication is supported, and it makes sense to switch it on.

Now the regulatory side. On May 26, 2026 the Seychelles Financial Services Authority identified MX Global Ltd as the operator of mexc.com without a VASP licence and started enforcement measures. The FSA also said it cannot facilitate fund recovery because the entity is unlicensed. According to an analyst source, MEXC was not MiCA-licensed as of July 1, 2026. Several regulators in other countries have issued warnings about MEXC, according to press reports. Check your national regulator's list.

Two more points. The terms allow MEXC to close accounts, and an analyst source says there is no formal appeal process. Since January 1, 2026 MEXC collects tax identification numbers for the CARF and DAC8 reporting frameworks, so assume your account data can reach tax authorities.

What are MEXC's KYC requirements and withdrawal limits?

Since February 1, 2026 KYC is mandatory for deposits, withdrawals and trading, per MEXC's announcement of February 5, 2026. No-KYC use is gone. Primary verification takes about 24 hours, Advanced about 24-48 hours, and fiat needs Advanced.

The latest limit table we found is from November 2024 and shows 24-hour withdrawal limits by level:

Level24h withdrawal limit (Nov 2024 table)
No KYC10 BTC (legacy, no longer applies after February 2026)
Primary80 BTC
Advanced200 BTC, fiat and OTC up to $20,000 per day
Institutional400 BTC

We did not find a newer official table, so treat these limits as a guide and check your account page.

How do you start on MEXC?

These steps follow MEXC's official guides. Check first that your country is not on the prohibited list.

  1. Open MEXC and register with email or phone.
  2. Complete Primary KYC: full name, ID number, date of birth and a photo of your ID. Review takes about 24 hours.
  3. If you need fiat, complete Advanced KYC with your ID and face recognition.
  4. Deposit crypto. Crypto deposits are free, and BTC is credited after 2 confirmations.

When you withdraw, compare the Bitcoin network, Lightning and BEP20 fees on the withdraw screen, and pick the network your wallet actually supports.

Our referral link does not come with a stated discount for new users, so do not expect one. MEXC's own referral program pays the inviter up to 40% of friends' net trading fees for 1,080 days.

What are the risks of MEXC?

The main risk is losing access to funds with no regulator to turn to: the operator is unlicensed in Seychelles, has no major licence elsewhere in the sources we reviewed, and its terms allow account closure without a formal appeal. Fee and restriction rules also change often, sometimes about a week after the announcement.

Points to keep in mind:

  • Regulatory pressure. The Seychelles FSA has started enforcement measures, and press reports mention warnings from other regulators. Access can change quickly.
  • Custody. Coins on the exchange are held by MEXC, not by you. Withdraw what you do not need for trading.
  • Fee changes. New zone taker fees took effect on September 30, 2026, after an announcement dated September 22. The MX discount figures disagree across MEXC's own pages.
  • Promotions. The Invite and Earn campaign promises up to 360 USDT per invite, but the friend must deposit 100+ USDT and trade futures. Futures with leverage can wipe out a position. A bonus is no reason to start.
  • Conflicting rule texts. Country lists differ between versions of the terms, so what applies to you is the version you accept.

How does MEXC compare with Bybit, OKX and Bitget?

MEXC has the lowest spot taker fee of the four at 0.05% and the cheapest Lightning withdrawal. OKX has the cheapest on-chain BTC withdrawal. The big difference is licensing: OKX, Bybit and Bitget hold licences in some jurisdictions, while MEXC has none in a major one according to the sources we reviewed.

FAQ

Can I use MEXC from Russia?

Yes, under the terms we checked. Mainland Russia is not on the User Agreement's prohibited list, and MEXC's app-supported countries page includes it. Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine are prohibited. The MEXC Card is not available in Russia, since Russia is on the card's list of 69 restricted countries.

Does MEXC work without KYC?

No. Since February 1, 2026 KYC is mandatory for deposits, withdrawals and trading. Older guides that describe a 10 BTC daily limit without verification are out of date. Primary KYC takes about 24 hours.

How much does it cost to withdraw BTC from MEXC?

Per fee trackers reading MEXC's API in October 2026: 0.00002 BTC on the Bitcoin network with a 0.00004 BTC minimum, 0.000001 BTC on Lightning with a 0.000004 BTC minimum, and 0.00000025 BTC on BEP20. Fees are dynamic, so check the withdraw screen.

Does holding MX reduce trading fees?

MEXC's own sources disagree. The current fee page shows ambiguous "0% discount" wording, a September 2026 article says 20%, and a November 2025 article said 50%. Check the live fee page before buying MX for the discount.

Is MEXC licensed?

Not in a major jurisdiction according to the sources we reviewed. In May 2026 the Seychelles FSA said MX Global Ltd runs mexc.com without a VASP licence, began enforcement measures and said it cannot facilitate fund recovery. Several other regulators have issued warnings according to press reports.

Is MEXC a good place to sell mined BTC?

On fees, yes: 0.05% spot taker and cheap BTC withdrawals. On safety, keep only what you are trading right now on the exchange and withdraw the rest. If that trade-off works for you, you can register through MEXC.
