Luxor pool review 2026: fees, payouts, LuxOS, countries, who it fits

Luxor suits bitcoin miners who want FPPS at 2.5%, a 0.001 BTC minimum payout, a choice of daily, weekly or monthly payouts and tools beyond the pool, such as LuxOS firmware and hashrate forwards. It fits less well if you need a sub-0.001 BTC threshold, Stratum V2 today or a published list of restricted countries.

POOL BTC is an independent comparison site for bitcoin mining pools and the services miners use. We are not Luxor and not a mining pool, and nothing here is investment advice. The facts below come from Luxor's official site and documentation, checked on 2026-10-15, plus public block data and the third-party sources named in the text.

What is Luxor Mining Pool?

Luxor Mining Pool is run by a US company that also publishes Hashrate Index, sells LuxOS firmware for ASICs and offers hashrate derivatives. Luxor introduced the term "hashprice" in 2019. The pool page says it serves miners in 113 countries, and Luxor states that both the pool and the firmware hold SOC 2 Type 2 certification.

The state of registration has been reported as Delaware, but the official pages we checked do not state it. Luxor says it runs external penetration tests every year.

The pool mines five coins: BTC, LTC, DOGE, Siacoin (SC) and Zcash (ZEC). LTC and DOGE are merged-mined through one stratum, so a Scrypt machine earns both at once. Our own pool table lists only BTC and LTC for Luxor, so this review fills in the rest.

How much does Luxor charge, and what are the payout limits?

Bitcoin costs 2.50% on FPPS, with a 0.001 BTC minimum payout and a flat 0.000075 BTC withdrawal fee. Your balance must pass 0.001075 BTC before a payout goes out. If you run LuxOS firmware, the pool fee drops to 0%, but LuxOS takes its own 2.8%, so the total is higher than the plain 2.5%.

CoinPool feeSchemeMinimum payoutWithdrawal fee
BTC2.50%FPPS0.001 BTC0.000075 BTC
LTC3.00%FPPS0.1 LTC0.001 LTC
DOGE4.00%FPPS100 DOGE0.01 DOGE
SC2.00%FPPS100 SCNot stated
ZEC3.00%FPPS0.1 ZEC0.005 ZEC

The fees come from the getting-started page on Luxor's newer /platform/ docs path. Luxor's documentation contradicts itself here: an older docs page lists LTC and DOGE together at 3% and Siacoin at 3%. We used the newer page, but check the dashboard before you point a Scrypt or Sia farm at the pool. "Not stated" means the official site gives no figure (checked 2026-10-15).

FPPS pays you for the block subsidy and for transaction fees. Luxor calculates the fee part from a 144-block moving average, dropping the lowest 5% and highest 5% of values. Luxor itself describes the model as buying hashrate from miners at a discount to spot FPPS. The discount is the fee you pay for a steady payout.

You choose how often you get paid:

  • daily;
  • weekly, on a day you pick;
  • monthly, on the first day of the month.

At every cycle the balance has to exceed the threshold plus the withdrawal fee. Otherwise it rolls over to the next one.

Luxor also sells two payout products that it says no other pool offers. Fixed Pool Payouts lock your payout for up to 12 months using derivatives. Upfront Pool Payouts pay BTC in advance. Plug your hashrate and power price into our mining calculator to see what 2.5% means in coins per month.

Who is Luxor a good fit for, and who should skip it?

Luxor fits miners who want a mid-priced FPPS pool with flexible payout timing, hosted and mid-sized farms that care about firmware tuning and fleet tools, and businesses that want to fix revenue ahead of time. It fits home miners with one small machine less well, and anyone who needs Stratum V2 or open Russia and Argentina terms.

A good fit:

  • Farms running Antminer S19 or S21 machines or Whatsminer M50 to M60S that want LuxOS power targeting and curtailment.
  • Miners who want to choose between daily, weekly and monthly payouts.
  • Companies that want Fixed or Upfront Pool Payouts, or hedging through hashrate forwards.
  • Anyone who mines Scrypt, Sia or Zcash alongside bitcoin and wants one account.

A weaker fit:

  • Owners of a single small ASIC. A 0.001 BTC threshold takes longer to reach than Braiins Pool's 1 sat over Lightning.
  • Miners who want Stratum V2 now. Luxor's official docs show only Stratum V1.
  • People in countries that may fall under US sanctions. See the next section.

Which countries can use Luxor, and is KYC required?

For standard mining, the official pages do not mention KYC: you sign up with an email. Luxor's terms of service, effective 2026-05-01, include a section called "Compliance, AML/KYC, and Restricted Jurisdictions", but the list of restricted jurisdictions is not published. The site has no explicit policy for Russia, the CIS, Latin America or Argentina (checked 2026-10-15).

Business clients are a different story. Luxor introduced KYB, business verification through Persona, in 2024, according to a stacker.news report from 2024-05-23. The derivatives desk requires KYC or KYB with company documents.

Our inference, not Luxor's statement: as a US company, Luxor is likely to follow US sanctions rules. Miners from sanctioned jurisdictions, which can include Russia, may have accounts refused or closed. The pool says it serves 113 countries but does not name them. If you mine from Russia or the CIS, ask support before you move a large farm, and keep a backup pool configured.

For Argentina and the rest of Latin America we found no stated restriction and no special terms. The global endpoints route you to the nearest region automatically, and the docs do not list where those regions are.

How safe is Luxor?

Luxor offers 2FA, and a workspace admin can force it on every member. API keys come with granular permissions and an optional expiry date. Payout setting changes can require two-party approval, which is off by default. There are four roles (Owner, Admin, Subaccount Admin, Viewer) and an activity log.

The SOC 2 Type 2 certification covers the pool and LuxOS, and Luxor calls LuxOS the first ASIC firmware with that certification. Luxor also states that it runs penetration tests by outside firms every year. Neither claim replaces your own setup, so we would do three things:

  • Turn on 2FA before adding a payout address.
  • Switch on two-party approval for payout changes if more than one person has access.
  • Give API keys only the permissions a tool needs and set an expiry.

A pool holds your earnings until the payout cycle. With monthly payouts, that can be a month of revenue sitting with Luxor.

How do you start mining on Luxor?

You need an account at app.luxor.tech, a stratum address and a worker name in the SubaccountName.WorkerName format. Luxor runs global endpoints that route you to the nearest region with automatic failover, so there is no regional server to pick. For bitcoin the address is btc.global.luxor.tech on port 700.

  1. Sign up with your email at app.luxor.tech.
  2. Turn on 2FA in the account settings.
  3. In your ASIC's web panel, set the pool to stratum+tcp://btc.global.luxor.tech:700.
  4. Set the worker as SubaccountName.WorkerName. The password can be anything; Luxor's docs use 123.
  5. Add your BTC payout address and choose daily, weekly or monthly payouts.
  6. Check that your balance will exceed 0.001075 BTC per cycle, or the payout rolls over.

Other coins use their own hosts on the same port: ltc.global.luxor.tech:700 for LTC and DOGE, sc.global.luxor.tech:700 for Siacoin and zec.global.luxor.tech:700 for Zcash.

On Stratum V2, the official docs show only V1 as of June 2026. A third-party matrix from d-central.tech, dated August 2026, calls Luxor "infra ready" for V2, but we found no official statement. Our Stratum V2 explainer covers why the protocol matters.

What does LuxOS add, and is it worth 2.8%?

LuxOS is Luxor's ASIC firmware for Antminer S19 and S21 families, including S19 XP, S21 Pro, S21 XP and Hydro models, and Whatsminer M50 to M60S. It adds power targeting, preset profiles, thermal management, curtailment in under 5 seconds and a mode that adapts to hashprice. Luxor says more than 300,000 ASICs run it.

The fee works differently from the pool fee. With LuxOS, Luxor waives the 2.5% pool fee but charges 2.8% for the firmware, so you pay 0.3 percentage points more in total. What you get for that is control: fast curtailment helps farms that have to cut load on request, and power targeting lets you tune machines to your electricity price.

LuxOS also exposes a CGMiner-compatible API on port 4028, and the Commander fleet manager has a free Lite plan. For a farm of a few machines on flat-rate power, the extra 0.3 points probably buys little.

What are Luxor's hashrate derivatives?

Luxor sells a Non-Deliverable Forward and a Deliverable Hashrate Forward, both priced on the Luxor Bitcoin Hashprice Index, which updates every 15 seconds. The minimum size is 1 PH/s per day, terms run monthly for up to 18 months and sellers post 18% of hashprice as initial margin. Only Luxor Pool clients can trade them, after KYC or KYB.

These are tools for companies that want to lock in revenue or hedge hashprice. A home miner with one S21 is far below the 1 PH/s minimum, so for most readers this part of Luxor is background, not a reason to join.

How big is Luxor's share of the Bitcoin network?

On mempool.space, Luxor found 33 of about 985 blocks in the week to 2026-10-15, a 3.35% share and 8th place. Hashrate Index, which Luxor runs, shows 4.09% and 43.4 EH/s. The two likely use a different time window or method, so treat Luxor as a mid-sized pool of about 3-4%.

What are the risks of mining with Luxor?

The main risks are counterparty and policy risk, not technical ones. You rely on Luxor to pay what FPPS owes you, the list of restricted countries is not public, and Luxor has made product choices that drew criticism. The points below come from official pages and a third-party profile on rigorrank.com from April 2026.

  • Counterparty. Under FPPS, Luxor pays you whether or not it finds blocks. You depend on Luxor paying out on schedule.
  • Unpublished restricted jurisdictions. The terms mention them but do not list them.
  • 2023 lending product. A hashrate-backed lending product drew comparisons with BlockFi and Celsius. Luxor denied rehypothecation, and no regulatory action followed.
  • Taproot Wizards block. In 2023 Luxor mined the largest Bitcoin block, 3.96 MB, for the Taproot Wizards Ordinals NFT. Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr criticised it.
  • Conflicting fee pages. Older and newer docs disagree on LTC, DOGE and Sia fees.

How does Luxor compare with Braiins Pool, Foundry USA and F2Pool?

Luxor and Braiins Pool both charge 2.5% FPPS, but Braiins pays out from 0.0002 BTC on-chain or 1 sat over Lightning and supports Stratum V2 with Job Declaration. Foundry USA is the largest pool but requires KYC and a 0.01 BTC minimum. F2Pool charges 4% on FPPS or 2% on PPLNS.

FAQ

What fee does Luxor charge for bitcoin?

2.50% on FPPS, per Luxor's newer documentation. With LuxOS firmware the pool fee is 0%, but the firmware costs 2.8%, so the total is 2.8%.

What is Luxor's minimum BTC payout?

0.001 BTC, plus a flat 0.000075 BTC withdrawal fee. Your balance has to exceed 0.001075 BTC at the payout cycle you chose: daily, weekly or monthly.

Does Luxor require KYC?

The official pages do not mention KYC for standard mining, where an email is enough. Business clients go through KYB, and hashrate derivatives require KYC or KYB with company documents.

Can I mine on Luxor from Russia or Argentina?

Luxor does not publish its list of restricted jurisdictions and has no explicit policy for Russia, the CIS or Argentina. As a US company it likely follows sanctions rules, so miners in Russia should check with support first.

Does Luxor support Stratum V2?

Not according to the official docs, which show only Stratum V1 as of June 2026. A third-party matrix calls Luxor "infra ready", but there is no official statement.

Which coins can I mine on Luxor?

BTC, LTC, DOGE, Siacoin and Zcash. LTC and DOGE are merged-mined through one stratum.

Is Luxor worth it in 2026?

For a mid-sized or hosted bitcoin farm, Luxor is a solid FPPS pool: 2.5%, flexible payout timing, strong account controls, plus its own firmware and hedging tools. For a single home ASIC, Braiins Pool's lower threshold makes more sense. Miners in Russia face an unclear sanctions position.

If the fit looks right, create an account on Luxor, point one machine at btc.global.luxor.tech:700 and watch the first payout cycle before moving the rest.
