WhiteBIT review 2026: fees, countries, KYC, who it fits

WhiteBIT makes sense for verified traders in Europe, Ukraine and other supported countries who want 0.1% spot fees, low futures fees and EUR payment rails. It is not an option for Russian residents: the exchange does not serve them, and on 2026-01-26 Russia designated WhiteBIT an undesirable organization. Users in the US and Canada are also restricted.

POOL BTC is an independent comparison site for bitcoin mining pools and the services miners use. We are not WhiteBIT, and nothing here is investment or legal advice. The facts below were checked on 2026-10-18 and come from WhiteBIT's developer FAQ, CoinGecko, news reports and the third-party reviews named in the text.

What is WhiteBIT?

WhiteBIT is a centralized crypto exchange founded by Volodymyr Nosov, who is also its CEO. It launched in Ukraine in November 2018 and moved its headquarters to Vilnius, Lithuania after February 2022. CoinGecko lists it with a Trust Score of 8/10, 327 coins and 786 trading pairs, and showed $652.5M in 24-hour volume on 2026-10-18.

The terms of service name UAB Clear White Technologies in Lithuania and Dervaliose Technologies in Poland among the companies that run the platform, and say the custody environment is hosted in the EU. The exchange belongs to W Group, which says it serves more than 35 million customers worldwide. That number covers the whole group, not just the exchange.

What you can use on WhiteBIT:

  • spot trading, margin and futures;
  • WhiteBIT Earn and the exchange's own WBT token;
  • WhiteBIT Nova, a EUR debit card, plus an institutional service;
  • an affiliate program launched on 2024-11-26.

The affiliate share is reported two ways. Decrypt wrote that partners get up to 60% of the fees paid by invited users, while the App Store listing says up to 50%. WhiteBIT has no mining or hashrate products that we could find.

What fees does WhiteBIT charge?

Spot trading starts at 0.1% for makers and 0.1% for takers. That is the one fee we read directly in WhiteBIT's developer FAQ. Futures, volume tiers, the WBT discount and withdrawal costs come from secondary sources, and some of them disagree. Check the live fee page in your account before you trade.

A caveat on sources: WhiteBIT's main site, help center and blog returned errors to our research, and we could not open the official fee or licence pages. So every figure marked "unconfirmed" below comes from third-party reviews or from snippets of the exchange's own documentation. Treat those figures as a starting point.

The futures conflict is real. A snippet of the docs FAQ gives 0.01% maker and 0.055% taker, while Coin Bureau's review, updated 2026-04-27, says 0.01% and 0.035%. On a large futures account, that gap between the two taker figures adds up.

The WBT discount is also described in two ways. One WhiteBIT blog post says holding WBT cuts maker fees by 10-100% and taker fees by 5-80%. Another page says up to 100% for makers and up to 90% for takers. The official page lists volume tiers from 0 to 10, but we could not read it.

On bitcoin withdrawals, the docs FAQ only says the fee comes from the get-fees API, with no amount. Lightning runs on Voltage infrastructure. The SEPA daily limit resets at 21:00 UTC.

Fiat costs are the least clear. Coin Bureau lists Visa and Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, SEPA and SWIFT, in USD, EUR, GBP and UAH. Third-party reviews give fiat fees as a flat $5 or 1.5-4%, and up to 4.5% for card deposits, all unconfirmed. Mining and planning to sell payouts? Our mining calculator shows how much BTC a month that is, so you can see what a 0.1% trade fee takes from it.

Who is WhiteBIT a good fit for, and who should skip it?

WhiteBIT fits verified traders in supported countries who trade spot or futures often and care about low base fees, plus EEA residents who want SEPA transfers and a EUR card. It does not fit Russian residents, people who refuse KYC, users in the US, UK or Canada, or anyone who needs the deepest liquidity on the market.

A good fit:

  • Active spot traders who will reach volume tiers, where unconfirmed reports put maker fees at 0%.
  • Futures traders, if the live fee page confirms the low taker rate.
  • EEA residents who want SEPA deposits and the WhiteBIT Card.
  • Bitcoin users who want Lightning deposits and withdrawals on an exchange.

A weaker fit:

  • Russian residents. The exchange does not serve them, see the next section.
  • Anyone who wants to trade without verification. Without KYC you only get demo tokens.
  • EEA users who move USDT. Under MiCA, they cannot withdraw it.
  • Traders who need the most liquidity. Coin Bureau notes WhiteBIT has less than Binance or KuCoin.

Which countries can use WhiteBIT, and what about Russia?

WhiteBIT does not serve Russian residents. It blocked Russia and Belarus in early 2022 and removed ruble pairs, and its AML policy excludes Russians and users in occupied Ukrainian territories. On 2026-01-26 Russia's Prosecutor General designated WhiteBIT and W Group "undesirable organizations", as Decrypt reported.

Reports on the designation say users could face penalties of up to 4-8 years. We are not giving legal advice here, and if this affects you, talk to a lawyer. WhiteBIT itself says it lost about 30% of its users because of the 2022 block.

According to a third-party list from coinperps.com dated 2026-07-25, WhiteBIT restricts 30 territories. Among them are the US, the UK, Canada, Russia, Belarus, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago. The same source lists Argentina, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Ukraine as supported. Its own licence table, though, says WhiteBIT operates in the UK ahead of the FCA gateway, so the UK status is unclear.

For Latin America, the Fintech Times reported on 2025-11-11 that WhiteBIT had announced VASP registration in Argentina and plans to connect local fiat providers and currencies. We found no confirmed ARS deposits or fiat P2P product. In Brazil WhiteBIT has a local branch, but the launch waits on the new VASP framework. Overall, WhiteBIT works with 9 fiat currencies.

On licences, WhiteBIT's institutional site claims licences in Spain, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria, without numbers. A third-party table adds a MiCA CASP licence in Austria granted on 2026-06-19, a brokerage licence from the National Bank of Georgia in April 2026, VASP registrations in Lithuania, Poland and the Czech Republic and some US state licences. We could not verify this table.

Is KYC required on WhiteBIT?

Yes. Without verification you can only use demo tokens. KYC unlocks deposits, withdrawals, buying crypto and 2FA recovery, and crypto deposits and withdrawals start at KYC level 1. We found no withdrawal route without KYC. Third-party reviews say you need a selfie and a passport or ID card.

We could not get the limits for each verification level. EEA residents also need to fill in a travel-rule object for withdrawals, according to the developer FAQ.

How safe is WhiteBIT?

We found no hack of WhiteBIT itself in 2024-2026, and the only regulatory action we found is the Russian designation. That is a search result, not proof. Coin Bureau says about 96% of assets sit in cold wallets. We found no Proof of Reserves report, so its status is unknown.

WhiteBIT also says it froze funds linked to the CoinsPaid breach and secured more than $150M that was at risk. That comes from the exchange's own press release, which Decrypt covered in February 2025. 2FA exists on the platform, but our only source for it is a help center snippet, so we cannot describe its options.

What we would do:

  • Turn on 2FA right after you sign up.
  • Keep only trading money on the exchange, since we found no Proof of Reserves report to check.
  • Test a small withdrawal first, especially on Lightning or a new network.

How do you start on WhiteBIT?

You sign up, pass KYC and then deposit. Without verification the account only shows demo tokens, so plan for the identity check before you move money. Because we could not open the official help pages, the steps below cover only what our sources confirm.

  1. Create an account on the WhiteBIT site.
  2. Turn on 2FA.
  3. Pass KYC with a selfie and a passport or ID card. Crypto deposits and withdrawals open from KYC level 1.
  4. Check the live fee page for your tier and the withdrawal fee for your network.
  5. Deposit by crypto, or by SEPA if you are in the EEA (min 10 EUR per transfer).
  6. If you are in the EEA, complete the travel-rule object when you withdraw.

What are the risks of using WhiteBIT?

The biggest risk depends on where you live. For Russian residents it is legal, because the exchange is now an undesirable organization in Russia. For everyone else the risks are country limits, required KYC, thinner liquidity than the largest exchanges and fee and licence data we could not confirm.

  • Legal risk in Russia. The 2026-01-26 designation covers WhiteBIT and W Group.
  • Country limits. About 30 territories are restricted, per a third-party list.
  • Limited fiat. No confirmed ARS support, and Brazil is still waiting.
  • Mandatory KYC. No verification means no deposits or withdrawals.
  • Liquidity. Coin Bureau rates it lower than Binance and KuCoin.
  • Unverified data. The licence table and several fees come from secondary sources.

User reviews range from mixed to positive. We found no reports of mass withdrawal freezes in 2025-2026.

How does WhiteBIT compare with Kraken, Bybit and OKX?

On base spot fees, WhiteBIT and Bybit both charge 0.1% maker and 0.1% taker. OKX global charges 0.08% and 0.10%, but 0.20% and 0.35% in the EEA and US without a derivatives account. Kraken's base tier is the most expensive, at 0.40% and 0.80% on its current schedule.

Keep in mind that several fees in this review are unconfirmed and come from third-party reviews and the exchange's documentation. Read the live fee page before your first trade. If the terms suit you, open an account on WhiteBIT, pass KYC and start with a small deposit and a test withdrawal.
